Guidelines for Food Service at HTCC

  • Typical attendance on a Saturday will be around 50-75 people. On special occasions the count will be much higher. Please contact admin@htcciowa.org for guidance around special occasions
  • If there are special groups (like schools, colleges etc) visiting, Manjunath and/or Panditjis at the temple will have this information. Please contact them a day or two in advance to be prepared.
  • Food can be prepared at home and brought for Food Service. Use of onion, garlic, mushroom and eggs are strictly prohibited. Please ensure that the food items are 100% vegetarian.
  • Food prepared at home will not be offered to the Lord as Naivedyam/Prasadam.
  • You can prepare any dish that you are comfortable with. There is no menu prescribed.
  • Typically volunteers prepare one curry, dal, rice, pickle and yogurt. You may also like to prepare pooris and a sweet if you choose to.
  • On the day of Food Service, please put TWO PLATES of Lunch in Priest Room for the Priests. Priests will eat after Pooja is done.
  • Volunteers are responsible for cooking, serving and cleaning. Please ensure that the kitchen and utensils are cleaned after the service and everything is returned back to its rightful place. We depend on your help to maintain the cleanliness and sanctity of the temple premises. Thank you for all your hardwork
  • On the next page, you will see a form where you will choose a date of food service and the type(lunch/dinner). If no one has taken that date, you will be able to enter all the information and click "Save" to add your name as the Food Service volunteers.
  • All fields on the form are mandatory. Email and phone number of volunteers is required in order for HTCC to coordinate with them as well as to make updates to the entry.
  • If the date you selected has already been taken by someone else, then you will need to coordinate with the other volunteers if you would like to do food service on that date.
  • In order to prevent accidental overwrites to the food service volunteer data, the below process will be used.
    • If you are making an update to your own entry, you will be sent a pascode to your email id. You will need to enter this in the "Validate Passcode" field in order to make updates.
    • For some reason if you need to cancel your food service, the same "Validate Passcode" method will be used to delete the entry.
    • If you need to make an update on someone else's entry, use the phone number and/or email information of the volunteers who are alrady signed up to discuss with them if you can take their spot.
    • If they agree, you can go ahead and overwrite their information, menu and volunteer names with yours.
    • When you click update, the system will generate a passcode and email it to the previous volunteers.
    • You need to get the passcode from the previous volunteers and enter it in the "Validate Passcode" box.
    • Once the passcode is validated, your information will be updated and the old information will be removed.
    • The passcode will only be valid for 10 min. So please ensure that you are in contact with the previous volunteers while you are trying to make this update.
